Artisan Baking at Home

4th Sunday of the month

Squisito (that's squiz-eat-oh or 'exquisite' in Italian) are unique in that we bake with a Sicilian wood fired pizza oven and Rayburn so students can experience and try alternatives you would not normally have at home. If you have a passione for bread it helps to see how other artisans bake and apply it to your oven.

Our Artisan Baking at Home course includes Squisito pizza for lunch, locally sourced ingredients, the bread you have made during the day to impress your mates plus a full set of Squisito recipes and a year's free backup advice. Courses start at 09:30 for 10:00am and finish at 4:30 to 5:00pm.

Unlike other courses Squisito workshops are practical and educational so you will be tasting, making and learning the functional principles of making natural leaven and hand shaping to gain a compass to work by so you can assess recipes or breads you experience to pass your skills on to your friends and family.

The day starts with an educational breakfast
of homemade breads and rolls so you can assess different mixes, flavours, shaping and baking techniques. We then move on to making and using a starter or 'biga', making and shaping a country loaf then using that dough to make loaves, rolls, grissini and pizza bases. Whilst the last batches of dough are proving we make and fire pizza for lunch then move on to olive oil and olive breads and experiment with brown and sourdough mixes or ciabatta in the afternoon session. It's fast, it's hot, but the result is real bread that you just cannot buy in any supermarket.

Squisito bake with 100% natural ingredients in a farmhouse kitchen or outdoor pizza oven and do not use the Chorleywood Baking Process. So, our Artisan Baking at Home course is just that. The course is just £99 inclusive.

Ours is the voice of experience since Squisito are accredited farmers market producers, qualified teachers and BBC Good Food Show Award Winners 2008 and 2010. See pictures below to see some of the breads Squisito make for markets.

All courses are on the Squisito shop and available to book on specific dates or as an open gift voucher. If you wish to give a day as a present we can liaise with your friend to arrange a suitable date and provide personalised gift voucher which we print and post or email for you to print out at home.
