The taste of Italy handmade in Warwickshire
Squisito (that's squiz-eat-oh!) is the Italian delicatessen and BBC Good Food Show 2008 & Slow Food UK 2008 award winning local food producer started in July 2007 by Sara and Alex Chambers. We make fresh Italian food in the heart of England from fresh local ingredients in our kitchen the same way Italians do in theirs.
As in Italy, we do not compromise. We live to eat - we don't eat to live. We like to think you do too!
Starting first with homemade ice cream made from Lubcloud Dairy organic cream and fresh fruit or real Italian chocolate (and sometimes a bit of alcohol too), Squisito now produce fresh antipasti, air dried salami, fresh pasta, pesto and a wide variety of main courses like Tuscan Meatballs or Wild Boar Cacciatore. Our range expands all the time and changes with the seasons.
Wherever possible Squisito food is made using authentic local Italian recipes and methods typical to that area but with ingredients grown or
reared locally in England. Occasionally, we will do an English take on an Italian recipe and come up with something new but local – see our handmade Parsley, Walnut & Lincolnshire Poacher Pesto for example.
Squisito is the only Farmers Market accredited Italian food producer in the Midlands and surrounding counties. That means at least 85% of our ingredients are our own or locally sourced. Since we are at Farmers Market 5 days a week we have friends and suppliers that Michelin starred restaurants would envy. If we see some nice vegetables or game at market, for example, you can expect to see it the next day as caponata or mixed game ravioli because we got there first!
