Cantina

In Italy the storeroom under you house where you keep your wine, passata and salumi is called a cantina. The Squisito cantina is a store of products and ingredients we have made and preserved over the year plus a store of kitchen essentials you cannot easily find in England like good Sicilian anchovies, Marzano tomatoes, Tuscan porcini mushrooms and Puglian olives.

Our homemade produce ranges from fresh pesto to tomato passata and balsamic glaze to Sara's limoncello whilst our hard-to-find range includes Lipari capers and Italian award winning Calabrian olive oil. Almost all of our products and imported items feature in our recipes because that's what we like and use in our kitchen.

Like our range of herbs and spices none of our Cantina ingredients are over processed, irradiated or contain unnecessary thickeners like gluten. Whilst Squisito dies not specifically cater for coeliacs we also stock rather good gluten free 'mais pasta' made with corn and a variety of gluten free pulses and flours to make an extensive range of gluten free recipes - otherwise found in the cucina povera (poor kitchen) since Italian peasants or contadino were so poor that they could not afford white flour.
